Results of such a hierarchy reduction by using arc-collapse operations are shown in figure 6: The number of patches gets significantly smaller with bigger patch sizes. 2 Node Error Adjustment As illustrated in figure 7(a) the simplification error of an arc’s father node can get smaller than its child node after an arc-collapse operation. 2) is non-deterministic.
